After many desperate, impassioned complaints, I see on the ZC blog that there is now SSL Support in Zoho Creator.

Yep, more proof of Zoho’s remarkable commitment to and support of the customers.

If you check through the forum you will see that SSL will be charged for in the business edition…’just another example of Zoho’s ….blah blah blah’

    Andrew,

Is there an issue with Zoho charging for SSL? Certificates and performance impacts arguably make SSL a very expensive feature to implement within an existing platform like ZC so it doesn’t surprise me that those costs have to be accounted for at some point for the platform to survive. My comment about the feature addition being more proof of listening to users was just based on all the forum activity that lead them to put it at the top of their new features list and release it to production.

  3. Andrew CHILE Said,

The issue is…as always….visibility! As a business you need to be able to plan for costs which is impossible to do so when you do not have a clear statement from Zoho and need to constantly badger them for information on costs and timings!

    Andrew,

My assumption with free beta services like Zoho is that since I’m not paying they aren’t responsible for my needs beyond the content of their terms of use and privacy policies. In the case of ZC, since AdventNet retains “the sole authority and discretion to determine the period of time for testing and evaluation of Beta Services”, relying on it for business planning is probably not a good idea. Working on prototype for use in business, though, makes sense since the ZC team has stated all along that they plan some kind of business-grade (paid) version of the service in the near future.

  5. Andrew CHILE Said,

That is the whole point. Effectively all that the current users of Zoho Creator are doing are Beta testing the product for Zoho, because without some visibility on the business version, it is likely that many current users will have to abandon their project on release….nice work if you can get it!
